Christopher had been out of work for 4 months prior to being referred to our Skills Support team by North West Education and Training. He’d previously worked as a self-employed painter and decorator in Wigan for 10 years, with the work drying up due to covid. Christopher was keen to get back into work, and our SSE Team was ready to help.
Christopher had been out of work for 4 months prior to being referred to our Skills Support team by North West Education and Training. He’d previously worked as a self-employed painter and decorator in Wigan for 10 years, with the work drying up due to covid. Christopher was keen to get back into work, and our SSE Team was ready to help.
Christopher wanted to secure full time employment as quickly as possible- after meeting with our team and telling them about his skill set, they enrolled him in a remote course in Warehouse Operations, at Level 2. Christopher completed this course quickly, and our SSE advisors commented that he was very hardworking, engaging and flexible in his approach to finding work, and they commended him for his clear goals – to find employment, and to move into his own home.
After completing his course, Christopher made himself immediately available for work, and our team found him various vacancies for him to apply for. A role in particular that stood out to him was working for Adidas in their Trafford Park location- after applying for the role, he quickly secured the full-time job within 4 weeks, impressing us all once again with his clear goals and proactive nature.
After securing his new job, we spoke with Christopher and asked him about his experience. This is what he told us:
“I'm not sure what to say about my story, other than that I was in a bad place, but with the help of Skills Support for Employment and their colleagues, I am back on the right track. Just goes to show that anybody with a little help can turn their life around. So once again, thank you for all the help and understanding shown to me and my situation.”
