Skills Support for Employment: Rebecca helps Dario to find work in the pandemic

 5th March 2021

In light of the upcoming International Women’s Day (March 8th), we’d like to turn the spotlight onto one of our employment coaches, Rebecca Pollitt, who has received much praise for her excellent work and support she provides to our clients, particularly throughout the pandemic.

One of those clients is Dario- who, like a lot of us, has had a rocky time during the pandemic. As he works primarily in the hospitality industry, an industry affected deeply by Covid-19, he unfortunately lost his previous job, where he worked as a barista and customer service operative. This knocked his confidence a bit, as he was unsure about how many job opportunities would be available in his industry during the pandemic.

He was referred to us at Skills Support for Employment via his Universal Credit coach, and was soon introduced to Rebecca, who was his dedicated Skills Support for Employment Work Coach. She began helping him look for places that would be able to hire him, taking care to consider  his current skillset, career trajectory and making sure he’d find a role that would work for him and where he would be happy.

Soon after, through Rebecca, Dario had an interview with Kettlebell Kitchen, which he aced! Soon after that, he began work, and loved his new job. Dario says he would recommend Skills Support for Employment to others, and thanked Rebecca for her outstanding support:

“I feel very glad, and happy about this outcome. I am also very thankful to Rebecca. I found her support essential. We worked together on how to find a job, which kind of job I would like to do, what job is the best for me. I felt very supported, she has been professional, and she was always available for any advice that I needed.”

Rebecca was overjoyed to hear such kind praise. We asked her about her own journey with us as a Work Coach, and what it means to her to work for the Growth Company:

“I started as an Employment Coach with the Growth Company in November 2020, and I am loving my journey so far! It is really clear how important our role is as Work Coaches in supporting people back into work during this challenging time.

“As a team in February alone, we managed to get over 100 people in the Greater Manchester area back into work, which is really amazing. There is true job satisfaction which comes with seeing individual’s confidence build over the time you have worked with them.

“What I love the most about working for the Growth Company is the ability to be able to work so independently and find your own way of doing things, I have already been able to get stuck into so many new opportunities and projects, such as being a Mental Health Champion, First Aider, and a mentor to new starters. I am looking forward to a future with the Growth Company.”

Thank you for your excellent work, Rebecca, and congratulations on your job start, Dario!
